We dine out for our lunch at the SM Aura Premier‘s Food on Four, a small foodcourt where you could choose few restaurants. We opted to try the “Pepper Lunch Express” since we were intrigue with the ‘sizzling’ sound of it during our first visit at the mall.
My mom, big sis and I had the same order which is Beef Pepper Rice that costs for PHP145 ($3.44) and iced tea for only PHP30 ($0.73).
The beef pepper rice contains a raw beef meat, rice, corns, spring onions and a dash of freshly ground pepper being cooked on a hot round metal plate. You can also season it with honey brown sauce or garlic soy sauce (or both). As I have found out, the restaurant was actually originated in Japan in 90s.
There’s even a note wrapped on the plate saying “Hurry!! Mix them up!”
1) Please mix them up equally as there is a butter and sauce in the middle of the plate.
2) The more you mix them up, the more delicious ‘Pepper Rice’ you get!! Why? You will see it.
It was good! I love the corns and it was a flavor-filled meal but not for my mom. She told us that the beef looks like a pork with fats, a bacon perhaps? She consumed the rice and corns but not the meat itself.
Have you ever eaten a dish being cooked on a hot metal plate like this?
